The tunnel-shuttering of Aarding distinguishes itself by the unique built-in knee-strut system. without the use of hydraulic auxiliary equipment (and consequently also without the necessity of extra energy facilities) the struts of the shuttering can ‘bend their knees', thanks to which the deck and sidewalls are released from the concrete with one simple movement. to this effect only a few wedges and safety pins need to be removed.
This unique system considerably simplifies the work and Substantially steps up construction speed. Besides, owing to the Absence of horizontal spacers/shores, a tunnel-shuttering of Aarding Allows a completely unobstructed passage, with all inherent advantages.
The repositioning of the tunnel-shuttering can also be done without extra auxiliary equipment. The lower part of the knee-struts and the deck panel are connected with each other by means of a steel rope. As soon as the crane starts lifting the shuttering, the struts and the deck automatically return to their ‘up’-position, which subsequently will be secured by means of the wedges and safety pins.

Less Investment
A tunnel-shuttering of Aarding has been designed as such that the overall dimensions can be modified quite simple, with a minimum numbers of fit-in sections. That is why a tunnel shuttering of Aarding can be used and re-used in practically any project, regardless the required dimensions. For special purposes the height can be varied by replacing the lower section of the walls by higher segment of different dimensions. Owing to this any wall height between 2310 and 3000 mm can be realized within the modulized system. The span is also variable, since in the center of the deck a fit-in section can be placed or left out. The minimum span of the standard form (without fit-in section) is 3970 mm, the maximum span can be 7200 mm.
The length (and also the hoisting weight of the shuttering) is also variable, since the various tunnel segments can be simply coupled, as per the requirements. The standard length of a tunnel section is 2400 mm; shorter segments can be supplied up to any desired specification.
